Researchers at cybersecurity firm Wiz said they were able to access Moltbook’s database in under three minutes, exposing user data and tokens that could allow attackers to impersonate accounts. What happened in the Moltbook incident
According to Wiz and reporting on the incident, researchers found a backend misconfiguration that left the database unsecured. With that opening, they said they could obtain roughly 35,000 email addresses, thousands of private direct messages, and about 1.5 million API authentication tokens. Those tokens function like passwords for software and bots; in the wrong hands, they can enable an attacker to act as an account, post content, and send messages.
